The West Street Park Project was begun in the early days of the Freeport Community Improvement Association. After more than two and a half years, the park, located at the corner of Main and West Streets, will receive its final details this season. It has been one of the most challenging and ambitious projects FCIA has undertaken to date. We feel it has also been one of the most important and rewarding.

Following the West Street Park Project through its development will give you a clear understanding of the mission, function, and vision of FCIA.
It all begins with a few sheets of paper on which ideas are written and sketches made.

The West Street Park project took many sketches, ideas and visits to the site. After months of designing, consultations, contractor estimates, revisions, meetings with the Town Manager, Code Officer, MDOT, and presentations to the Town Council, a final plan was approved and set in motion.

A fundraising campaign was begun as contractors were selected and volunteers were assembled. Then came the exciting time when construction was actually begun!
Construction underway...

Heavy equipment rolls in, earth is moved, and talented stonecrafters begin the laborious tasks which will forever change the character of West St. Park.
FCIA volunteers work alongside the professional hardscapers. It's hard work, but the results are more than encouraging. What is done today will be enjoyed by all for many, many years to come.

After many long days and lots of hard work the hardscape work comes to completion. Vision is well on the way to reality.

The next phase is ready to begin!
