Many people have been helping to design, construct and care for the Soule Park during the past three years. Because of the generous contributions of time from volunteers, and generous contributions of materials, the costs of creating the park have been kept to a minimum.
During the spring, summer and fall, “Soule Park Workdays” are held twice a month to tend the park. Activities include mowing the lawn, cleaning up sticks and branches blown down by the wind, caring for the perennial beds, pruning shrubs, picking up trash, and spreading woodchips on the paths. There is always something that needs doing.....
Two or three times during the year, we hold major workdays, when we do the more strenuous tasks of planting trees or shrubs, chain sawing, chipping branches into woodchips, and any other work requiring machinery.
If you would like to join us, we would welcome your participation.
There is no attendance requirement. People are notified about the workdays, usually by email, and they attend as they are able. Our usual work group size is four to ten people. We work for about two hours; people can stay for some or all of the time. Everyone wears appropriate work clothes and brings their own tools, gloves, drinking water and insect repellant.
