Memorial Park in Freeport (at the corner of Bow and Park Streets) has been a major focus of FCIA this year.
Plans call for a refreshing and restoration of current park features as well as additional improvements.
Trees in the park have been trimmed and shaped. Overgrowth shrubs around the monument have been removed. New flowerbeds, designed by Travis Pryor, have been installed.
The benches throughout the park have been refurbished with labor donated by Taggart Construction and materials supplied by FCIA
Customized up lighting of the monument is being installed, which will be both attractive and provide additional safety.
Power for, and maintenance of the lighting is being donated by Hilton Garden Inn, which owns the adjacent property. HGI also plans additional landscape work along side the historic “Old Town Hall” building which borders the park. Irrigation for the park flower beds is also provided courtesy of Hilton Garden Inn.
The benches at Memorial Park, skillfully restored by Taggert Construction, invite passers-by to stop and enjoy some time in the park.
